Bending the rules will make you sit behind bars

They searched both the vehicle and the suspects and found a firearm in the pocket of one of the suspects

Although most of South African citizens know that being in the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition is against the law, yet again a suspect was arrested on these counts.

Police patrolling the busy streets of Emalahleni’s Central Business District (CBD) on a daily basis was not too surprised when they caught another criminal in an act of crime on Saturday, October 5.

The incident occurred in French Street when the police on duty spotted a suspicious Renault Clio that was parked in the road facing oncoming traffic and confronted the suspects in the vehicle.

They searched both the vehicle and the suspects and found a firearm in the pocket of one of the suspects.

The ‘Baby Browning’ had four live rounds in the magazine and was loaded.

Upon a full search in the vehicle the police found another 20 live rounds of ammunition.

They asked the suspect that had the firearm in his possession if he has a license for the firearm and he allegedly said that the firearm does not belong to him and that he only wanted to sell it.

The police arrested the suspect on charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The suspect appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 7 for a bail application but was denied because it is believed that the suspect is a previous convicted criminal.

The case is still an ongoing investigation.
