Two vehicles hijacked

Police are investigating both cases and are looking for the six suspects

Two vehicles were reportedly hijacked, one in Ackerville while the other was hijacked at Hlalanikahle.

A white Mercedes Benz A class with registration number JRC 163 MP valued at R240 000 was hijacked at Nkomo Street in Ackerville on Friday, July 12 at about 20:00.

The 36-year-old owner reported that she was from work going home and when she tries to open a locked gate she was approached by four unknown suspects and one of them had a firearm.

She was instructed to get inside her vehicle and she did as she was told.

While driving with her, they demanded cash and she gave them R1 500, her bank card with her pin number.

They drove with her on the Verena Road and she was dropped on the road.

The second vehicle, a Toyota Hilux with registration number FSP 213 MP, valued at R600 000 was hijacked at Hlalanikahle in Extension 2 on Saturday, July 13 at about 19:30.

The owner reported that he was driving home and when he arrived at his gate to open it, he was approached by two suspects who pointed him with a firearm.

He was forced back to his car and was told to lay down and not to make any sound.

They then drove with him towards Kromdraai.

He was dropped along the road with his hands tied on his back and they drove off in his vehicle.

He was only assisted by the security officials from the mines.

Police are investigating both cases and are looking for the six suspects.

Vosman Police Station communicating officer Sergeant Kgomotso Maluleke said that community members must be aware of the new modus operandi where criminals put sticks inside the gate locks so that when one tries to open it, will have difficulty and taking time and they will have a chance to pounce on their victims to hijack their cars.

She said community members should be vigilent at all times when approaching their gates at their homes.

“Police are looking for all the criminals involved in all the hijackings and they will appreciate any information leading to their arrest.”
