Drugs galore

The rise in drug usage is increasing rapidly in eMalahleni. The police are constantly arresting offenders for either possession or use.

Some drugs are more common then others and it’s the cheap ones that cause the worst problem.

Recently police from Witbank station arrested four suspects in relation to drugs.
The first was arrested on April 16 at 11:00 whilst an officer was on duty. The officer said that he was doing his usual rounds when he noticed a suspicious looking man. Upon confronting him and searching him, the officer found the man to be in possession of 30 pinches of heroine. The drugs were estimated to be at a street value of R1 350. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of drugs.

A further three suspects were arrested on April 19 at different times of the day from the morning. One suspect was arrested at Paxton Prison whilst in custody. The suspect was detained for another crime when he was found to be in possession of marijuana in his locker. He was re-arrested after the search and charged with possession, the value of the drugs was R1 500.

The police arrested him and he was charged with two offences. The last suspect was found running a drug spot near a dumping site in Old Coronation. The suspect was arrested after police allegedly sent another person to go buy from him and the ‘bait’ returned with the drugs.
