Mountains of ammo taken off of the streets

The two men were also in the country illegally

Members of Witbank SAPS, Captain Tshidi Mamarega and Captain Christinah Sibelo, received a tip-off from members of the community that lead to the arrest of two Mozambican men; and the confiscation of a heap of illegally owned ammunition.

Sector 5 of the Community Police Forum (CPF) and the local taxi association accompanied SAPS to affect the arrest of the two local Mozambican men (aged 32-years-old and 27-years-old) alleged to be hoarding illegal ammunition in Klarinet.

The SAPS found the two men in possession of approximately 1 300 rounds of live ammunition (of varying calibre).

The two men were also in the country illegally.

One of these Mozambican-cowboys is still at large, however.

“We would appreciate the community’s help in apprehending the third suspect; another Mozambican man who is believed to be in possession of the rifles and pump gun firearms to which this ammunition belongs. He was not with the other two suspects at the time of their arrest. We will be initiating a man-hunt to ensure that he does not evade justice,” Captain Mamarega explained.

Should you have any information on the third man, kindly contact Witbank SAPS on 013 655 5052.
