Some are celebrating love on February 14, but Mwandu Edutainment Organization is celebrating the love of art.

Mwandu Edutainment Organization is an arts and culture organization which its core is doing development within the eMalahleni area, the
facilitators are sponsored by the Department of Arts and Culture in the Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP).

Some are volunteers in this programme teaching young people and giving back to their community and instilling confidence to the youth.

Six of the girls are from Mmagobane Combined School and are part of the programme with the others from Kopanang Secondary School.

According to the director James Marewu, Mwandu Edutainment Organization recently has embarked on a programme to educate girls with social issues such as human trafficking; teenage pregnancy through acting in the production and it is based on gender inequality issues.

“The production consists of eight young energetic girls from Mmagobane Combined School and Kopanang Secondary School. The girls are from disadvantaged communities but that doesn’t show as they have determination,” Marewu said.

The girls will be participating in the Stellenbosch University in their Annual School festival called ‘Buya’ which consist of different schools from the nine provinces.

“We’re grooming these young girls to be independent, focussed and to eliminate the number of teenage pregnancies within our community and
we’re trying to decrease the number of young people using substances,” added Marewu.
