Two businesses robbed and stokvel taken

Vosman police are investigating two cases of business robberies.

Vosman police are investigating two cases of business robberies. The first business robbery was reported at Green Point Tuck Shop in Vosman.

The 39-year-old business owner reported that she was at home with her daughters on Sunday, September 30 at about 19:30.

One of the daughters was selling at the tuck shop. A suspect entered the dining-room, cocked a firearm and pointed at her. Another three suspects armed with firearms came into the dining-room with her daughter who was in the tuckshop.

The suspects demanded all the money she had received from stokvel. One of them forced her to the bedroom and took the money together with some items from the house.

They took along a Blackberry and two Samsung J1 cell phones together with R60 000 in cash. The victim’s son tried to fight with the suspects but they were too strong for him. They fired one shot as they escaped and fled the scene on foot. The value of all items taken is R70 000.

Another business robbery was reported to the police. A 36-year-old Ethiopian national reported that he was robbed at his shop in Hlalanikahle Extension 1.

The robbery happened on Friday, October 5 at about 18:00. He reported that he was at his shop with his brother when four suspects entered the shop. One of the suspects pointed them with a firearm while the other suspects threatened them with knives.

They went to the till and took an amount of R2 500 in cash, cigarettes and airtime vouchers and after that they fled the scene. The value of all the items taken is R5 800.

No one has been arrested in both cases and police are investigating.
