A Ford Laser was hijacked by two armed men in eMalahleni, setting off a series of unfortunate events that were both tragic and darkly ironic.

The vehicle was hijacked in the early morning on Thursday, August 2.

One of the suspects breathed his last in front of Avbob’s front door.

The suspects quickly made haste out of eMalahleni with the stolen car, but Cyber Security weren’t planning on letting these criminals get off scott free.

A mad chase ensued between the robbers and Cyber Security.

Cyber Security tracked the vehicle by means of the tracker which the owner had wisely installed.

The criminals shot off a few rounds at Cyber Security, who stayed hot on their tracks despite the threat of harm being directed at them.
The criminals turned the stolen vehicle off of the main road at the Bronkhorstspruit/Groblersdal exit and careened into Rooth Street before trying to escape into Kruger Street.

The criminals drove the stolen vehicle into an open field in Kruger Street and jumped out of the still-moving vehicle, clearly aware of the security officers still hot on their heels.

The Ford Laser’s dash was cut short by the cement wall of an apartment building.

The moving vehicle went on to cause further destruction, even without the robbers at its helm, ploughing through the cement wall of an apartment building before coming to a stop.

The criminals desperately tried to disappear into the Bronkhorstspruit Forum office building complex, making the unfortunate mistake of choosing an office block which houses both the Streeknuus and the detective offices of Bronkhorstspruit’s police force.

One of the suspects was fatally wounded and lay on Avbob’s porch, where he had been shot, breathing his last breath.

This suspect was felled after a desperate chase from eMalahleni to Bronkhorstspruit, which ended with him being killed on Avbob’s porch.

Residents of Bronkhorstspruit allege that Avbob’s porch is still bloodstained due to the enormous amount of blood lost by the perpetrator.

Lt Col Johan Swart was on the scene almost immediately, ensuring that no evidence was contaminated or degraded by curious members of the public.
