Crime on the rise at Jackaroo plots

The past few weeks have been hell for the residents of the Jackaroo plots

The past few weeks have been hell for the residents of the Jackaroo plots. One after the other the residents suffer a loss due to the theft of property and unauthorised entries.

“We feel unsafe knowing that there are suspects dwelling around our homes looking for an opportunity to steal and damage as they go along,” said Mr Gerrit Smith one of the residents of Jackaroo plots.

Numerous numbers of plots have been targeted the past week, which left the home owners with holes in their fences and gates without motors. Not only does this cost damage to their properties but also a lot of money.

During the early morning hours of Sunday, May 27, members from CSC Tactical who were on duty noticed two men moving around on one of their CCTV cameras that is placed around the Jackaroo plots.

“We use CCTV cameras that are highly effective and we could clearly see two men moving and walking where they shouldn’t be,” said Pieter Cromhout from CSC Tactical.

The CSC members went after the two men and shots were fired. The CSC Tactical members allegedly chased the suspects and that was when members from The South African Community Crime Watch joined.

“A distressed call came through on the South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) open channel saying that gun shots had been fired,” explained Maureen Scheepers SACCW responder.

After that more calls followed.

The SACCW joined the CSC Tactical team on the chase. The suspects allegedly took off in the direction of MNS Informal Settlement and were lost in the long grass. Items that have been stolen, were later recovered by CSC Tactical members behind their yard in a ditch.
