The learners were standing at Kingfisher Street in Ga-Nala at 07:30 on Tuesday May 15 waiting for transport to go to school when the bakkie hit them.

Kriel SAPS is investigating a case of reckless or negligent driving against the driver of the bakkie.
The circumstances of the accident are somewhat vague, but Constable Masadi Mahlakoane, police spokesperson said the Isuzu bakkie collided with a BMW. This in turn caused the accident.
