We want water

Jackaroo Park, Clearwater Estate and parts of Blanchville have been without water for three weeks.

The R555 crossing at Jackaroo Park was closed earlier this week when residents took to the streets after not having water for three weeks.

The community blocked the crossing with branches and tyres and set it alight after their desperate pleas for water fell on deaf ears.

Jackaroo Park, Clearwater Estate and parts of Blanchville have been without water for three weeks.

The R555 was closed by residents earlier this week.

On a Whatsapp group for Ward 20, residents have reported the situation over and over again asking for feedback and a time estimate of when the water will be restored.

The municipality had minimum response and no direct answers as to where the problem is, who is attending to the problem and what time people can expect water back in their taps.

On their Facebook page the municipality also responded with little information.

The R555 was closed by residents earlier this week.

At the beginning of March they informed residents that the water leak in Blanchville has been isolated and all the areas supplied from leaking bulk feeder line have been ring fed from the alternative feeder line.

On March 6 one sentence was posted; “The water team is currently attending to a burst pipe affecting water supply to Clearwater Estates”.

A week later residents were graced by another one sentence excuse; “Clearwater Estate water supply is affected due to the leaking main line, and the system has been isolated”.

On March 17, three pipes affecting Clearwater Estate have been reported.

The R555 was closed by residents earlier this week.

Two were repaired but the team was struggling with the last repair.

Another week went by and the municipality reported that the Jackaroo Park water supply was affected due to a burst pipe and at the same time Blanchville water supply was affected due to a burst pipe.

The team was going to repair the Jackaroo Park problem first before focussing on Blanchville.

On Tuesday morning after hearing about the closing of the R555 the municipality posted another update.

The R555 was closed by residents earlier this week.

Residents were informed that the teams has had a number of pipe breaks affecting the network due to pressure challenges and a pressure reducing valve was installed in the pipe that feeds Jackaroo Park.

The projection was that the commissioning should be completed late that afternoon.
