Every week Witbank Police Station gets more cases of robberies that are occurring in the Central Business District (CBD).

WITBANK NEWS did an article in the January 26 edition, reporting about a robber that had been killed after robbing a shop in the CBD.

On January 25, just as the news of the killed robber went viral another shop owner became the victim of a robbery. It was alleged by the owner that he was busy in his shop when a man came into the shop, walking straight up to him with a firearm.

“He did not even ask any questions and just started to search me from top to bottom. It was then when my eye caught another three suspects all heading towards the cash register. I just kept calm,” he said.

While the robbers were busy taking everything they could lay their hands on, the owner’s wife came to the rescue, pushing the panic button after she heard the commotion from the back. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

In another incident that occurred on January 27 in the CBD at a local gambling place, three suspects allegedly came into the lounge and appeared to be on their way to play a machine when one of the suspects pulled out a firearm.

He allegedly held the staff member on duty at gunpoint and demanded the cash in the till. After they got what they wanted the robbers fled the scene.

No one has been arrested but the case will be investigated further by Witbank Police.
