Fireworks is a no go in eMalahleni

Emalahleni Local Municipality has decided to put a foot down this year against people who discharge fireworks.

Emalahleni Local Municipality has decided to put a foot down this year against people who discharge fireworks.

A meeting took place on Tuesday December 19 the Municipality’s Fire Brigade Services officially banned fireworks.
Unfortunately eMalahleni will not have festive fireworks from now on and anyone found discharging them will be guilty of an offence and may be prosecuted or will be fined.

The Municipality’s Fire Brigade Services will be on the alert especially during this festive season as some residents tend to randomly discharge fireworks with no sense that they could cause fire, unbearable noise and injuries.

As a public notice came to light it is clearly stating that the municipal by-law on Fireworks in the district has the resident’s full support.

Maureen Scheepers from South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) urged all residents to report any issues regarding the distribution or discharge of fireworks.

Residents can kindly report fireworks on (013)6906 222/333/444 or alternatively log into the SACCW open channel on Zello: https://zello.com/SACCW

“Together with the municipal law enforcement of eMalahleni these scenes will be attended to,” Scheepers concluded.
