Michael Manka has been sentenced to five years in prison for attempted murder.

On September 4, 2015 a taxi driver was working around Vosman driving a Toyota Quantum when he came across two men. He was driving in Extension 16 when he saw Manka (33) and a suspect who said they were going to Klipfontein.

The two suspects got in and the vehicle took off. Nkosi and the second suspect told the driver they wanted to get out at the Engen robots. But before they got to the robots, the driver overheard one of the suspects speak over the phone, “I got the kombi” but the driver allegedly did not read much into the conversation.

Just a couple of seconds before reaching the robots, the second suspect grabbed the driver and put a rope around his neck. Manka tried to stab the driver on the left side of his chest but because he was wearing his St Engenas Zion Christian Church badge, his life was saved. Soon after that, his badge fell off.
