SACCW caught another suspect

More and more residents started to be the eyes and ears when it comes to crime prevention in eMalahleni.

On November 16 a South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) response member got a phone call from a resident claiming he had just witnessed a suspect stealing his gate motor battery in Virginia Crescent, Model Park

The responder immediately posted a ‘be on the lookout’ on the SACCW Zello channel and gave the suspects description as supplied by the witness.

Responders went to the near vicinity of where the theft took place. A chase ensued but teamwork prevailed again when the suspect was cornered by a few responders and apprehended.


The cuffed suspect that was arrested for being in possession of stolen goods. On November 14 the South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) and SAPS stood together to fight crime.

The stolen goods, a drug called paraphernalia and all the tools needed to commit this crime were found on the thief.

When calling in a crime or suspect it is important to give as much information as possible. The full description, direction and area that were supplied immediately by the witness ensured that this suspect was caught,” Operational Co-ordinator from SACCW, Maureen Scheepers added.

Witbank Police were dispatched to the scene and the suspect was arrested on grounds of stolen property and in possession of instruments to commit a crime.
