Music seminar hosted at the civic theatre

The event took place on Friday, October 13 at the Civic Theatre at the Emalahleni City Council.

The seminar started an hour late but they managed to cover everything in the program. The first speaker was Ben Motshweni who addressed the issues that local artists face. Then the Witbank Arts Campus was represented by Marie Lombard who spoke about the opportunities the school has.

Lahleni Link who is an online marketing company that deals with profiling local artists. Mr Tshepo Nzimande spoke on behalf of MOSHITO music Conference. He had a lot of valuable information he shared especially when he spoke about up and coming artists sounding the same.

SAMRO was represented by Duke and Joe who spoke about SAMRO’s licensing and composing registrations. They also explained the importance of registering with them and also the benefits of royalties.

Emalahleni was represented by Classic and Mxo; things heated up when local artists wanted to find out why their music is not being played at the station. Mxo explained the music quality issues and songs not being professionally mastered.

Talent from Malicom world spoke about his services as a professional music producer that offers Industry quality in his music production.

Sound View spoke about their services to profile local artists.
Lwazi Duma the organiser of the event spoke about putting our differences aside and working together to build our local music industry.

The entertainment for the day was arranged by various musicians from eMalahleni and Keshmera who won straight from the Coal competition shocked the audience with her performance. TDM, Lavanza, D brandon, Pierre, Vanessa, G Sabz, Given, Bloodline, Conquers of life, all shared the stage.

This workshop was made possible by the assistance of Sound View, Malicomworld, Blackmoor, The Muff, Straight from the Coal, Lwazi Duma Entertainment, Witbank Arts campus, Emalahleni FM and Emalahleni Local Municipality.
