The three suspects that allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl were denied bail once again as the magistrate was worried about their safety.
On Monday, September 11, students, teachers and parents from Makause Combined School gathered outside Witbank Magistrates Court and protested as the three suspects were to appear in Court B.
Students from Makause Combined School stood outside Witbank Magistrates Court on Monday, September 11 to make their voices heard on the three rapist case.
The parents of the three rape suspects and the parents of the rape victim sat in court with the rest of the public.
The suspects were denied bail, the magistrate said that it is mainly because the court is worried that their lives are in danger as the community is so angry.
The suspects will appear in court again on Friday, October 13.
On Tuesday, August 29 at about 20:15 a case docket of rape was opened at Phola SAPS whereby the 13-year-old child was allegedly raped by three men.
The 13-year-old’s mother said that she started noticing that there was something wrong with her child on Saturday, August 27 when her son came to her and informed her that his sister was crying and when she asked her what was wrong she said that she had a headache and fever.
Students, teachers, parents even council employees protested outside Witbank Magistrates Court, where the three suspects appeared.
The next day the mother discovered that there was a video trending on social media showing her daughter being raped by three men and she immediately went to school to enquire about the video.
When the daughter was questioned by the mother and principal she admitted that she was raped by three men on August 9 at Tycoon.
Due to the video that was made the police were able to arrest the suspects. The men are aged between 19 and 30 years old.
