Emalahleni’s lights are not staying on. Eskom issued a notice whereby they indicate they will be flicking Emalahleni’s switch on November 20.
The municipality’s Eskom account ballooned to R 1 190 746 629.
This amount is part of the outstanding debt from 2012 that could not be settled by the municipality.
The power utility plans to interrupt electricity from Mondays to Fridays for eight hours a day.
There will be no electricity from 06:00 to 10:00 and 17:00 to 21:00.
And on weekends consumers will have no electricity for six hours a day from 07:00 to 10:00 and 17:00 and 20:00.
