Two drug users have been ordered by the court to kick the habit.

On August 11 Mr Reginald Mazwayi was sentenced for possession of drugs in the Witbank Magistrates Court. As part of his sentencing he was referred to Swartfontein Treatment Centre in Whiteriver for rehabilitation treatment.

Mazwayi was also sentenced to serve six months imprisonment which was wholly suspended for five years on condition that he isn’t convicted of a similar offence.

On the same day, Mr Moses Nkosi also appeared before court facing the charge of possession of drugs.

Nkosi’s case was remanded for a later date pending his court order which ordered him to undergo detoxification. His case was postponed for sentencing to a treatment centre.

In a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm both the accused and the complainant were absent from court.

This forced the magistrate to issue warrants of arrest which are held over until the next court date which would be August 25. Should the accused or complainant not attend court the warrants of arrest would be executed.
