Man injured and burnt declared dead

A man in the prime of life was found dead in Phola.

A man in the prime of life was found dead in Phola.

On Friday, August 18 at about 12:30 Constable Joseph Jonas Nkosi and Constable Mashego Mahlaba attended a complaint of a murder at Iraq in Phola.

Upon arrival they found the naked body of a 21-year-old man with injuries and burns.

According to an eyewitness, the young man was caught stealing by a group of people the previous day that assaulted him and thereafter burned him and left him there.

Apparently the young man did not get any help and died as a result of his injuries. His body was taken by the Witbank Forensic Pathologists to Witbank Government Mortuary.

A case docket of murder was opened at Phola SAPS and police are investigating. Anyone with information that can help the police in this case can contact Phola Detectives Branch Commander Captain Xaba on 013 643 8601/013 643 8605.
