Puddle sends car into tree

Sinkfontein was travelling along OR Tambo Street towards Die Heuwel when the accident occurred.

What was supposed to be a relaxing Sunday afternoon for the Sinkfontein family, turned into panic, after the family vehicle hit a puddle of water which sent the car into a tree.

On Sunday, July 2 at approximately 12:45 Mr Clayton Sinkfontein was travelling in his silver Volkswagen Polo. Inside the vehicle with Sinkfontein were his brother Mr Charlton Sinkfontein and Sinkfontein’s two children, Sammy Ward (4) and her brother Dustin Ward (9).

Sinkfontein was travelling along OR Tambo Street towards Die Heuwel when the accident occurred.
While they were driving in the slow lane, there was a puddle of water which flows into the road from the water works.


The silver Volkswagen Polo that hit the puddle of water in OR Tambo Street on Sunday, July 2 collided with the tree further down the road.

Sinkfontein hit the puddle of water in the road and it is alleged that he lost control of the vehicle after hitting the water. His vehicle eventually came to a stop after colliding with a tree.

Motorists travelling in that area all stopped to assist where they could.

Many phone calls were made to emergency services and the relevant departments were dispatched to the scene.
