March against the abuse of women and children

The aim of the march was to raise awareness and to mobilise society to be protectors of women and children following the recent spate of rape and killing of women and children in the country

Different stakeholders from political parties, youth organisations, faith based organisations, government department, civil society, community organisations, children, individuals and other organisations took to the streets in a march organised by the Nkangala District to make their stand against the abuse and killing of women and children.

Joining the march held on Friday, June 2 were Mpumalanga MEC for Social Development Ms Busi Shiba, Mpumalanga MEC of Community Safety, Security and Liaison Mr Pat Ngomane, mayors, councillors from the district and local municipalities as well as other officials.

The aim of the march was to raise awareness and to mobilise society to be protectors of women and children following the recent spate of rape and killing of women and children in the country.

Messages of support were also received from various organisations in support of the march and then a memorandum was then handed over and was accepted by MEC Ngomane.
