Three suspects busted for drugs

Witbank Police arrested three suspects found in possession of drugs this past week in the Central Business District (CBD).

The journey of fighting drugs in the streets of eMalahleni continues. Witbank Police arrested three suspects found in possession of drugs this past week in the Central Business District (CBD).

The first arrest was made at 07:00 on Wednesday, May 24. Two policemen received information about a drug operation happening at a house situated at Plumer Street.

Upon arrival police searched the house and found a blue plastic bag which had green leaves and seeds. Inside the wardrobe police found small plastic bags which they suspect could be used to put drugs in.

About 6 KM’s away from Plumer Street, a 47-year-old man was arrested facing a charge of possession of drugs.
The man was arrested at 08:30; this arrest is similar to the first one where two policemen received information about a man in possession of dagga in the bushes at Klipfontein. Police spotted the suspect at Amanda Avenue and stopped him.

The suspect was searched and found with eight wrapped papers in a small black cooler box.
When police opened the cooler box, they found green dried leaves and seeds with a unique smell.
About four hours later another arrest was made in the CBD. A 22-year-old man was busted with dagga to the value of R400.

The arrest was made at Mandela Street at 12:00. The suspect was searched and dagga was found inside his underwear.
Research conducted by the Medical Research Council shows that Emalahleni has a big drug problem and has the second highest rate of drug abuse in the entire country.

Numbeo indicates that problem people using or dealing in drugs in Emalahleni is high sitting at 72.2%.
