EHC is making a difference one step at a time

You can never know where you are going if you do not know where you come from.

You can never know where you are going if you do not know where you come from. Hence it is important to always review a project once you complete it.

On Friday, March 3 Protea Hotel By Marriot hosted Emalahleni Housing Company (EHC) when they had their stakeholders breakfast meeting.

The team showcased their 2016-2017 community development successes and presented 2017-2018 programmes.
Lukhaya Community Development Enterprises is another organisation that was formed under EHC to focus on the development of the community to move mountains.

Pastor Jackson Ramateletse opened the event with a short sermon, teaching the crowd on how it is vital to ask God for wisdom when there are challenges and at work.

“Also remember that God says we must give generously.”

This was followed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr George Xaba who spoke about building and developing communities. He says the mandate is clear: it is to service the poor.

“Today’s purpose was to report back what EHC said they will do last year when they had a similar meeting to this one. We did not do it alone; companies such as Pennypinchers, Emalahleni FM and Sport Wrap came on board to assist in certain projects done by the company.”

General Manager of Subsidies, Miss Rose Chetty did a presentation on EHC’s 2016 achievements and what is still to come in 2017. The stakeholder’s breakfast was hosted on Friday, March 3 at Protea Hotel By Marriot.

He outlined some of the projects done like Mandela Day which was celebrated in July where 1009 blankets were canvassed in remembrance of uTata.

“In this gathering we are saying to the companies who assisted us, this is what we have done. After all we help everyone that we can.”

General Manager of Subsidies, Miss Rose Chetty did a presentation showing what exactly was done in the previous year. The first project completed was the ‘Take a girl child to work’ where 13 learners were hosted spending the whole day learning about Finance, Human Resources, Administration, Project Management, Information Technology and Community Development. This was followed by Youth Day celebrations in June, Mandela Day in July, Heritage Day in September and World Aids Day in December, these are some of the projects they participated in.

Proposed projects for this year include cancer awareness month, fun run/walk, women’s day, sunflower day, 16 days of activism, Christmas and bread tags for wheelchairs amongst others. All they are trying to do is to make a difference one step at a time.
