On Monday, December 26 the complainant stopped at a red traffic light on the corner of Mandela and Rhodes streets, when he was approached by an unknown male. The suspect allegedly pointed his firearm in the man’s direction, the complainant noticed another man standing next to his vehicle.

One man told him to get into the back of the vehicle and while they drove, one of the suspects searched the complainant. They took his cellular phone and wallet and the one suspect drove to nearby bushes.

The victim told police that the suspects told him to take his clothes off and lie down, where after they tied his hands and feet.

The complainant also told police that the suspects asked for the pin number for his bank cards, drove off and returned after a few minutes. This time, they required another pin number, which the complainant did not know, they allegedly kicked him and drove off with his silver Volkswagen Polo. He told police that he managed to untie himself, and went seeking for help.

The victim was unavailable for comment by time of going to print and the case is still under investigation.
