Hijackers pulled drivers over with blue light tactic

What seemed to be the police or traffic officers with blue flashing lights was in fact a hijacker.

What seemed to be the police or traffic officers with blue flashing lights was in fact a hijacker.
The first hijacking incident happened on Friday, October 7 at 18:35 on the N12 highway.

Mr Lucas Lebese alleged that he was travelling on the N12 highway towards eMalahleni from Johannesburg.
Lebese was travelling in an Isuzu bakkie with a trailer that was empty as he had just done a delivery in Johannesburg.

“As I was driving I noticed flashing blue lights in my rear view mirror, I thought it was the police or the traffic officers,” said Lebese.

He then pulled off to the side of the N12 highway, as the vehicle with the blue lights stopped behind him.
While seated in the vehicle, Lebese noticed one person step out and walked towards him.

A car was hijacked on the N12 highway last week.

“I noticed he was wearing private clothes as he approached my window,” said Lebese.

The suspect then pulled out a firearm and stood next to him, so people travelling past would not notice the gun or anything suspicious.

Four more suspects approached his vehicle, that’s when the suspect by the driver’s door climbed into the vehicle.

“I was made to sit in the middle of the vehicle,” continued Lebese.

At first they allegedly threatened to kill him, then they decided to cover him with a cloth.
Lebese remembers the sound of the bakkie starting after which they travelled for some time before they started travelling on a gravel road.

“I was lead out of the bakkie and then they pushed me into the bushes, where I was ordered to lie down, face down that’s when the suspects drove off,” said Lebese.

Unsure where he was he managed to crawl back to the main road where police were patrolling and noticed Lebese.
The police officers took him to the police station where a case of car hijacking was opened.

On Thursday, October 6 at 21:00 Mr S. Dlamini alleged that he was driving his metallic sliver Volkswagen Polo TDI in the Die Heuwel area.

Dlamini alleged that he indicated to the left into a side street.

“I noticed a white Avanza that also indicated to the left, over took me and then stopped in front of me,” said Dlamini.

He was then forced to stop as well in the side street, four suspects climbed out of the Avanza.

Two of the suspects were armed with firearms, one of the suspects knocked on the driver side of the vehicle, then one of the other suspects opened up the passenger door.

The suspects then opened the driver’s door, forcing Dlamini out of the vehicle into the road.
As the two of the suspects climbed into his vehicle, they started disconnecting the tracker, then loaded Dlamini back into the vehicle.

Before they left Die Heuwel with the Volkswagen Polo they also took his cell phone, wallet and dropped him off in Delmas.

A case was opened at Witbank Police Station and the case since then has been transferred to Delmas Station for further investigation.
