On Tuesday, 11 October the accident happened in OR Tambo Street, when the Langamed-driver stopped at the red traffic light.

β€œA taxi travelling on OR Tambo Street stopped at the traffic light that was green for him, to give way for our vehicle to pass through. Another taxi travelling in the same direction as the taxi that stopped, did not stop at the light which led to the collision,” Mr Dino Padayachee, Chief Executive Officer of Langamed Emergency Management said.

He also added that paramedics from Langamed responded to the incident, where one Langamed employee was treated for minor injuries and was transported to Life Cosmos Hospital for further treatment.

He also said that another passenger from the taxi was treated for minor injuries to her lower legs and was transported to Witbank Provincial Hospital, also for further treatment.

β€œIt is very important for the public to be aware of emergency services responding to incidents. Red or blue lights or sirens indicate that police or emergency services are responding to incidents where people are summonsing help. It is important that these services are given right of way to reach their destination as quick and safely as possible. Remember, it could be your family that needs our help,” Padayachee concluded.
