Vosman police through their communication officer Captain Klaas Maloka reported that they are investigating a case of murder after a 26-year-old man was killed.
The police reported that on Saturday, September 24 at about 4:30 at Extension 16 in Empumelelweni, a 26 years old suspect known as Bonginkosi Petros was killed.
According to the report the suspected man entered the house and started searching. He was seen while pulling cables in the house, the house occupants called the neighbours to help capture the suspect who then tried to escape using the main door. His plan did not work as he caught about five meters away from the house and he was heavily assaulted with stocks, stones and left on the street.
The police tended the crime scene and his body was found with multiple wounds after the alleged assault. He was later certified as dead.
Vosman Police Station Commander Brigadier Eric Masiya stated that people must stop assaulting suspects and who ever laid a hand on him will be dealt with according to the law. Brigadier Masiya however encouraged community members to act against crime and work hand in hand with the police.
