Dog stabbing, docket to court for decision

The decision, whether or not to prosecute the man who allegedly stabbed a Boerboel three weeks ago is now in the hands of Kriel Magistrate Court.

The decision, whether or not to prosecute the man who allegedly stabbed a Boerboel three weeks ago is now in the hands of Kriel Magistrate Court.

Constable Lindiwe Sibanyoni, spokesperson for Kriel SAPS said statements from both the accused and the complainant have been taken and send to court for a decision.

The cruel way in which the two-year-old Boesman was stabbed on May 27 had residents in Ga-Nala (former Kriel) livid.
Boesman’s owner, Ms Cheree Otto, said she saw video material of Boesman dragging himself back to their house after allegedly been stabbed by a neighbour.

“Boesman jumped a fence to get to a neighbours dog that was on heat. He acted on his instinct,” said Otto.

She said they were previously threatened that Boesman would be shot or given poison.
Otto took Boesman to a local vet, Dr Gabby Decort, who said the dog was definitely stabbed with a sharp object.

“Looking at the wound, it was straight. There is no way the dog could have ended up with such a wound if he jumped over a fence or was hit by a car,” Dr Decort said.

Boesman died shortly afterwards.
