Dreams realised at Elkana

It all started as a dream, a vision and through hard work, planning and dedication it became a reality

It all started as a dream, a vision and through hard work, planning and dedication it became a reality – Elkana Educational Centre has a new face, new hope.

Greenside Colliery took on the responsibility of revamping Elkana Educational Centre in the first quarter of last year and completed phase one of three on June 26 when they handed to keys of the new classrooms over to Mr Abie Smit, the founder and director at Elkana.

On April 15, Elkana once again received a boon as the third phase of the revamp was officially concluded as the newly built hall was revealed to sponsors and to the public.

“This is making dreams come true, when I started many years ago I wanted to set a benchmark for others to follow and thanks to all of you we have realised a dream,” said Abie.

The project which was spear headed by Greenside Colliery saw the centre undergo a complete transformation with the classes being revamped and new ones built in phase one, to the administration block being rebuilt in phase two, and concluding with a hall and kitchen being erected in phase three.

At the official opening a number of sponsors involved in the rebirth of the centre were treated to a performance by the children of Elkana Educational Centre, leaving many with a new found happiness in seeing the light that they have brought to these children.
