Members of the community of Schoongezicht and the nearby Lynnville were invited to the campaign. Business against Crime (BACSA), Second hand good dealers, local mining companies, Anglo American, Transnet, Vodacom and some local companies were present during the awareness campaign. The companies informed the pupils and members of the community about their duties and what the community should do when they encounter copper theft. Promotional information was also handed out.

Theft of copper as well as non-ferrous metals is a huge concern and affects local companies as well as the community on a day to day basis. A committee has been formed to address all ferrous and nonferrous related crimes in cooperation with the South African Police Services in the province. The committee has major partners in the business such as BACSA, Eskom, Transnet, Telkom, Columbus, Vodacom, Anglo American, as well as other mines as stakeholders.

The committee is tasked with organising awareness campaigns as well as making presentations to the second hand goods dealers and communities. They have the cooperation with the police by fighting the theft of non-ferrous and ferrous metals.

The pupils and the community were told about the frequently stolen materials such as copper, coal, pipes, tyres, poles, transformers, drill bits, solar panels and other materials and they were encouraged to join hands in order to fight crime.
