A man allegedly murdered a woman upon finding out that she was HIV positive after having intercourse with her.
On February 15 Ogies Police received a complaint of a missing person, the victim was reported missing from January 31, the victim’s family requested the police to intervene and assist in finding her whereabouts.

A case docket of missing persons was opened.

The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Simon Matshika, through investigation was able to discern who the victim was last seen with and visited the suspect’s house situated at the Iraqi Section informal settlement at Phola.
On questioning, the suspect told police that he was having an affair with the woman, yet denied knowing where she was.

Police requested to search the premises to which the suspect agreed and police were unable to find any clue as to the woman’s whereabouts.

Police investigations continued and the suspect was requested to appear at the Ogies Police Station on February 9 after a dog unit was dispatched to the suspect’s home.
According to police the suspect confessed to having taken the victim from one of the taverns to have sex with her back at his premises. He further alleged that after having intercourse with the victim she informed him that she was HIV positive.

According to police the suspect said that he became angry and assaulted the victim, strangling her to death.
Upon realising the victim was dead he and a friend took the body and buried it in the nearby bushes.
The police dog unit that was dispatched to his home found where the victim was buried, she was retrieved and both men were arrested and charged.

Both suspects are to appear before the Ogies Magistrate Court on February 16 and remain in custody.
