Warning armed robberies on the rise again

Nine armed robberies have been reported, there may be more.

From April 27 to May 2, a total of nine armed robberies were reported at Witbank Police.
On April 27 a man was walking across the N4 foot-bridge along with his friend, when they were approached by four men. One of the suspects, wielding a knife, threatened the two men as the other three robbed them of their cellular phones, groceries, valued at R150, and their sneakers.
Two days later another man was robbed on the same footbridge. Similarly four men approached the man and held him at gunpoint, they bound his hands and stole his bank card, along with his cellular phone. They also withdrew R850 from his bank account.

On April 30 a woman was threatened by a suspect while she was on her way to the butchery. The woman was walking along the side of the road when a man approached her pretending to hug her. He then told her not to scream or that he would needle her in the neck, the suspect then made off with the woman’s belongings.

That same day a 46-year-old man was travelling in his car and while waiting at the robot, was approached by a suspect who threatened him with a firearm. The suspect then stole the man’s possessions including his cellular phone and ran off into the distance, the exact location where the robbery took place was not reported.
On May 1 at about 16:45 a man was robbed after accompanying his friend to the Central Business District. The man accompanied his friend Jona to the taxi rank, on his way home he encountered three men, one of which threatened him with a knife and demanded he hand over his belongings. The man handed over his cellular phone and the money he had on his person, the suspects then fled.

While walking from the garage to his home, a man was robbed of his laptop and cellular phone. This occurred on May 2. When the man approached the N4 bridge, three suspects approached him, one of them was armed with a knife and they threatened him. They took his items and ran off, the total value of the items amounts to R8 000.
