SBV is offering a R5 000 000 reward

SBV was the target of gunmen once again and this time suspects got away with millions.

The cash in transit company is offering a R5 000 000 reward for information leading to the successful arrests and recovery of cash and conviction of the perpetrators.
On March 10 four SBV Protection Officers were attacked by an unknown number of suspects while transporting cash between Verena and eMalahleni.

The cash in transit vehicle was slowly making its way on the Hertzogberg pass when the suspects surprised them.
It is believed that the suspects, who were driving in three vehicles, used R5-artillery and opened fire on the vehicle.
When the vehicle stopped, the suspects allegedly placed explosives underneath to blow it open.
The SBV crew retaliated, but was no match for the 15 suspects. They sustained minor injuries during the attack.
SBV’s Risk and Governance Team is working with the authorities to investigate the incident. No additional details can be disclosed now as an investigation is underway.

“This is a serious and violent crime that has been committed. SBV has zero tolerance for any criminal activity that threatens the safety of our employees and the public,” said Mr Grant Dunnington, Group Chief Executive Officer of SBV Services.
“We are working with the authorities and will do everything that we can to ensure that those involved are brought to justice. I wish to commend our employees for their bravery in defending this attack and am pleased that they are recovering from their injuries.”
Members of the public, who are aware of any information regarding this incident, are requested to call the SBV Early Warning Robbery Hotline on 083 408 7029.

SAPS provincial spokesperson, Colonel Leonard Hlathi said no arrests have been made.
He urged anyone with any information about the heist and the suspects to contact the investigating officer, W/O Moraka Tsoai: 082 780 2365 or approach any police station.
