DNA to tie suspects to the SBV robbery

The SBV robbery case has been postponed until next year in light of new evidence.

On September 5 two more suspects joined the already 10 accused on the stand in Witbank Magistrate’s Court.

Of the 12 suspects, 11 remain on bail while one remains in custody due to having a pending case against him in Boksburg.
In their latest appearance, the suspects were taken for DNA swabbing. The DNA samples will be used as part of the ongoing investigation to tie the suspects to the SBV robbery in which over R100-million was stolen from SBV in eMalahleni on April 27.

The 11 suspects, currently out on bail are to report to their local police stations every Friday until the next court date of their appearance, the case was postponed to January 12, 2015 for further investigation.

Capt Paul Ramokolo could not provide any information regarding the arrest of the two suspects, who were recently taken into custody.
