On August 30 two people where forced into a car by robbers carrying knives.
Apparently at about 14:30 the victims were making their way down Watermeyer Street towards Tasbet Park.
They allegedly saw a white Fiat Uno pull up next to them and as they declined the offer for a lift, a man in the passenger seat got out and threatened them with a knife.
They where forced into the back seat of the vehicle before the driver turned around and drove in the opposite direction towards the Old Ogies Road.
The robbers demanded that the victims hand over all their belongings such as cell phones and wallets.
The frightened victims were left unharmed next to the road near Eskom Park as they watched the robbers drive away. The police are investigating the incident.
On August 28 a man was stabbed by two robbers. The victim told police that he was walking along the Walter Sisulu off-ramp on the N4 at 04:30, making his way home, when he was approached by two suspicious men.
Apparently as soon as they were close enough, one of the robbers pulled out a knife. Without saying a word the robber apparently stabbed the victim in the hand. While the victim was in pain the robbers searched him and took his cell phone and cash before running away.
In a previous statement by Capt Eddie Hall regarding robberies with weapons other than firearms, he stated that unlike firearms a person does not need a license to carry a potentially lethal knife. Therefore they are much easier to come by making this type of robbery quite common.
