Business robberies are constant in eMalahleni

An undisclosed sum of cash, cigarettes, a mobile, and a camera control machine was stolen during business robberies.

Armed robbers targeted three businesses in a series of audacious robberies that shocked the city’s business owners ‒ two on the same night and one the next day.
On Wednesday, June 7 the first incident occurred at a local shop in a Klipfontein complex.

According to reports, three suspects posing as clients stole an undisclosed amount of cash and a mobile phone.

The alleged incident occurred when the complainant, who had only opened the business for a few minutes, began reporting for duty.
Later that day, a second robbery happened at a nearby filling station in the Central Business District (CBD).

Two armed suspects are reported to have attacked the petrol attendants, breaking the door and entering the store, threatening them, and fleeing with an undisclosed sum of cash and cigarettes.
The last robbery took place on Thursday, June 8, at a Del Judor guest house.
According to reports, the three suspects, armed with firearms, entered the guest house through the burglar door.

They are believed to have gained entry shortly after a client apparently left the door unlocked.
They entered the residence, pointed a handgun at the complainant, and went straight to the safe, departing with the camera control machine even though they couldn’t open the safe.
Although no injuries were reported in any of the incidents, the ongoing occurrence of business robberies is concerning considering the increase in crime in the area.

The police have launched an investigation into the incidents and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
