Employees locked themselves in a storage room during robbery

Victims of the robbery took shelter in the storeroom after a gunshot went off.

Klipfontein has been the centre of attention in a recent business robbery.

Employees at a local fast-food chain have been held at gunpoint when three suspects robbed the establishment.

On April 7 in the early evening, a worker was busy assisting customers in a white car at the delivery window.

According to the victim, whilst waiting for their order, two unknown males exited the back of the vehicle. One of the assailants grabbed the burglar pick-up window and entered the store.

The victim said that she screamed when one of the suspects took out a firearm and pointed it at her. Other shop assistants and the victim then decided to run towards the exit door but were blocked by the assailant’s white vehicle which was parked right in front of the door.

According to reports, once the workers noticed that the exit had been blocked off; one shot was heard being fired.

Upon hearing the shot, all the employees ran to the storage room and locked themselves inside. According to the employees, the robbers tried to break open the storage room door but failed.

After a while, the employees heard nothing and assumed that the thieves were gone and exited the store room.

The criminals removed a mounted safe holding the previous day’s takings by force and also took cash from one of the tills.

Video footage has shown three medium-built men wearing gloves and face coverings and caps.

According to the police, a blue Almera/Corolla Sedan was used as the escape vehicle.

Luckily, no one was harmed during the robbery.
