Qoqikasi group seeks further donations for school gardens

A local mine donated much-needed garden tools to the Qoqikasi Group, but there are still a few items on their wish list that they require.

Overlooked Mine in Ga-Nala, is giving back to the community, and this time to a well-known group doing school gardens where the neighbourhood is benefiting.

On behalf of the group, Nompumelelo Nene stated, “Qoqikasi Group in Kriel is doing school gardens for our local schools intending to have gardens in and around Emalahleni Local Municipality.”

On Tuesday, February 28, the donation ceremony was held in the school hall.

They donated the most requested items by the group to accomplish their dream and continue their excellent job for their local schools.

“We received garden tools, reflector vests and gloves. We were really honoured and we would like to extend our appreciation to the mine,” said Nompumelelo.

The group benefits not only the schools but also the community as a whole. As part of the group, some volunteers are not working; 90% are single parents, and they are searching for sponsors to support them with tools and skills that will help create jobs, particularly in agriculture, where more producers are needed.

“We humbly request that businesses provide us with green homes, JoJo tanks, and other items,” she said.

If you have any donations for the group, please call Nompumelelo on 072 038 9158 or Bonginkosi on 076 466 4389.
