Good turnout at McCarthy/Laerskool Panorama Nite Race

Runners dusted off their running shoes to participate in the 2023 McCarthy/Laerskool Panorama Nite Race on February 15.

The 2023 McCarthy/Laerskool Panorama Nite Race was a massive success in the month of love when runners lifted their heels with excitement and ended at the finish line with big smiles and support from other runners.

Despite a rainy and greyish morning and afternoon, the weather knew better than to stand in the way of the runners participating in the race in the evening on February 15.

The race strictly commenced at 19:00 at Laerskool Panorama when the principal, Mr Paul Burger, fired the shot that sent the runners kicking the dust from the field onto the streets.

The runners were divided into two groups: Those participating in the 5km fun run and the serious runners kicking to the curb for the 10km run.

The big smiles on the racers’ faces were accompanied by laughter at the joke made by Neels Vermeulen from Coaldust Road Runners, the man behind the mike for the evening that the runners must be on the lookout for potholes in the road.

Little runners also gathered with parents and grandparents, eager to get their running shoes running and telling photographers to be ready when they cross the finish line as winners.

Good ol’ 80s music filled the field while supporters on the pavilion waited anxiously to see who will cross the finish line first.

Those who stayed home with their running shoes missed out on a great ‘nite’ to race and challenge themselves in the streets of eMalahleni.
