Robbers go tavern-crawling in the Central Business District

Robbers instructed an employee to load all the liquor from the shelves into their bags.

For business robbers, no amount of liquor can hinder their criminal tendencies, not even all the alcohol in a tavern.

Three business robbers visited a local tavern in the Central Business District (CBD) on February 11.

It is believed that two employees were working at around noon and assisting two customers when two unknown men entered.

One of the men allegedly had a bag with him, from which he pulled out a firearm and instructed them to lie down.

The employees did as instructed, and another third male entered with a bag.

They allegedly instructed one of the employees to open the till and took the cash inside.

Doing crime must be stressful for robbers, as they instructed the same employee afterwards to load all the liquor from the shelves into their bags.

It seems as if the business robbers from eMalahleni can hold their liquor as they fled from the scene with the liquor and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Unfortunately, the tavern-crawling robbers allegedly wore gloves and caps and could not be identified.

The SAPS provides the following tips regarding business robberies:

Do not keep too much money on the business premises.

Be on the lookout for suspicious customers.

Do not keep the shop open till late.

Avoid being alone, especially at night.

Business owners must not open for anyone after the business has closed.

When in a hostage situation, the SAPS provides that potential victims must do everything the perpetrators tell them to do.

They must also try to maintain their pride, dignity and self-respect.

They must not become panic-stricken or hysterical, offer any form of resistance, become abusive and aggressive or lose their temper.
