Local NPO pledges to donate 140 pairs of school shoes to underprivileged children

The school would like to thank particularly the Pink Touch Foundation Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) and all stakeholders who contributed towards the campaign.

The Last Supper Movement team had its first back-to-school campaign for this year when 20 pairs of school shoes were donated to Springvalley Primary School.

The overall goal of the campaign is to donate at least 140 pairs of school shoes to seven schools in eMalahleni which is equivalent to 20 pairs for each school.

The movement has identified a need for school shoes for underprivileged school pupils.

With the research done by the team it was found that, according to the national household travel survey, about ten million learners across our country use their bare feet to get to school, due to the lack of transport and/or expenses of transport.

Further research shows that several learners go without school shoes because their parents or guardians cannot afford them.

This has an impact and may cause a barrier to learning.

Shoes protect feet which is the key function of school shoes for children.

Quality school shoes boost their longevity and make them durable to stand long walks and hours of playing.

Lastly, school shoes bring dignity and confidence to a learner.

The Last Supper Movement wishes to fill in the gap through the campaign, by giving brand new school shoes to school children.

The school would like to thank particularly the Pink Touch Foundation Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) and all stakeholders who contributed towards the campaign that took place on Friday, January 27.
