The search for Henk Heyns continues

The police divers are currently sweeping the parts of the Olifants River in search of Henk.

It has been two days since Henk Heyns was swept away in the Olifants River.

The weather plays a significant role in the search and rescue operations.

The search and rescue teams are still busy searching for him.

The sluice gates at Witbank Dam were closed early morning on December 29, making the task easier as inflow has significantly reduced in the area where Henk was last seen.

The dam was at 95.5% this morning,

The Witbank Dam management said the dam level will rise again.

They said warnings will be sent out if the rising level necessitates the opening of the sluice gates.

The currents, however, are unpredictable and every safety precaution is in place to keep the divers safe.

On December 28, the National Sea Rescue Institute fine-combed the river, a helicopter search was conducted and members of SAPS, the neighbourhood watch, ER24, and members of the public searched along the embankment.
