R544 crash claims five lives, one victim in critical condition
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison urge motorists to be patient with one another when driving on the road.
A tragic accident that led to the death of five people happened on the R544 road between eMalahleni and Verena this morning.
One victim who sustained serious injuries is currently receiving treatment at KwaMhlanga Hospital.
It alleged that the Volkswagen Citi Golf hatchback the victims were travelling in, overturned and rolled several times.
The driver and passengers were in the process ejected out of the vehicle and emergency personnel declared them dead on the scene.
The probe into the crash has already commenced.
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Vusi Shongwe is sending condolences to the bereaved families. He also appealed to motorists to drive with the required diligence and obey the rules. “It is sad for our roads to be a constant sight of tragedies that could be avoided with extra care on the part of the motorists.”
