Two years and eMalahleni will be safe – says brigadier
Sergeant Kgomotso Maluleke ‘stole’ the Provincial Commissioner of Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela’s heart when she recited the police’s code of conduct.
Witbank SAPS Station Commander Brigadier Moses Bolton made a bold promise when he, during the SAPS Excellence Awards, said the police will enhance its performance in the City of Coal.
Bolton committed that an improvement in policing will see eMalahleni removed from the national high-priority list in two years.
For the team at Witbank Police Station, he only had praise during the function that was held on October 8 and emphasised that policemen- and women don’t have a job, but a calling.
“We are prepared to lay down our lives and protect our community, that is our passion,” Bolton said.
He went on and said in 2030 women and children will be safe to walk the streets at night and high walls and locks will be something of the past.
Bolton thanked all the structures in his precinct that are committed to fighting crime.
Ms Madelon Troskie, chairperson of the Community Policing Forum in her address said it is a privilege to work with Witbank SAPS.
The Provincial Commissioner of Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela applauded the nominees for the awards.
She said the local police station is squeezing crime towards zero tolerance.
“Criminals will have difficulty breathing, she said.
Manamela thanked the nominees for all their hard work and dedication and said it is because of their hard work that the province is moving into a better position nationally.
