Business robberies struck in eMalahleni

No arrests were made after several business robberies.

It’s that time of the month when robberies in the city are beyond control, and business owners are being urged to take precautions.

Three businesses were targeted in the last week, and the robberies began on Thursday, September 22, when two suspects pretend to be customers.

Two suspects are believed to have entered the tuck shop and pretended to buy a cooldrink when one of them suddenly pointed a firearm at the victim, who then demanded money.

The suspects are said to have fled with cellphones, an airtime machine, cigarettes, and undisclosed cash.

Business robberies are increasing in KwaGuqa Extension, as a security guard reported being robbed while on duty in Empumelelweni by three suspects.

It is believed that while the victim was at work, three suspects approached him and pointed a firearm at him, demanding money and machine batteries.

Since they couldn’t find what they were looking for, the suspects allegedly assaulted the victim.

They then drove away with his belongings and two 25-litre bottles of diesel in a white Polo with no registration numbers.

Security guards on duty appear to be the targets of business robberies in eMalahleni these days, as another business robbery occurred when a security guard was robbed on duty on Balmoral Road.

It is alleged that the complainant and his colleague were patrolling when two unknown males approached them, pointed firearms at them, and tied them up.

They stole the following items before fleeing: Fraser batteries, two chairs, 210 litres of diesel, and their belongings.

No arrests have been made yet.
