Two new vehicles for Emalahleni traffic department – thanks to Seriti, Kriel Colliery
The vehicles were handed over to the Executive Mayor of the Emalahleni Local Municipality, Councillor Conny Nkalitshana
Seriti’s Kriel Colliery handed over two light vehicles to help the Emalahleni Local Municipality manage traffic monitoring and to control and do highway patrols for the residents of the municipality.
The handover ceremony took place on Friday, May 27 at the Emalahleni Municipal offices.
Law enforcement authorities and road users have reported a rise in incidents in many parts of the province, a number of them on the N4 highway.
The vehicles will go a long way in helping the municipality with law enforcement, compliance and visibility, therefore ensuring the safety of residents and travellers.
Mr Thabo Masike, Chief Corporate and Community Relations Officer, said:
“Safety is a key priority for us in our business and this extends into our surrounding communities. We believe that these vehicles will help create safer roads for residents of the municipality, a lot of whom are our own employees. We recognise that the safer our communities, the safer our employees and business will remain.”
The vehicles were handed over to the Executive Mayor of the Emalahleni Local Municipality, Councillor Conny Nkalitshana, who was pleased to receive the vehicles, emphasising that she is looking forward to more partnerships of this nature with Seriti and the mining industry in the Province as a whole.
She added that this investment will go a long way towards restoring investor confidence in the area, which will result in further development for the benefit of everyone in the municipality.
This initiative is closely linked to one of Seriti’s values of safety and health without compromise and the company aims to continue partnering with key stakeholders in the public sector, to improve service delivery and the safety of residents.
