Beautiful Wandile touches the hearts of Springvalley’s teenage girls

Wandile Litheko gathered all the girls from this informal settlement and began to teach them about self-love, self-worth, and self-respect.

Wandile Litheko, a semi-finalist for Mrs Universe Africa visited girls from a township close to her heart – Springvalley.

On February 10 she gathered all the girls from this informal settlement and began to teach them about self-love, self-worth, self-respect and the importance of education.

From a young age, it became clear to her that your surroundings can either make or break you.

But by having someone that can inspire you and tell you that ‘no matter where you are from, your dreams are valid.

“If my motivation can help our young girls just by hearing that they can live their dreams to the fullest and get out of the gutter, my work is done,” said Wandile.

The session made the girls express how they have challenges with not being able to attend school when they are having their periods, because of the lack of sanitary products.

“Where other girls mentioned how they didn’t know that having self-worth is important for one to remain resilient even when circumstances are tough,” she added.

The girls were blessed with toiletry bags, water bottles and sanitary towels.

Wandile even discovered two hidden gems and aspiring models Mpho and Mpumi and took them in as students at her modelling academy, Masebotsana.

“One thing is for sure, I am so grateful for the Mrs Universe Africa platform which has enabled me to do this for these girls because I know that their lives will never be the same again,” she concluded.
