Mecs Publishing authors honoured with awards for their phenomenal work

Edna urges parents to encourage their children to more read books

The Founder and CEO of Mecs Publishing, Edna Cane Swanepoel (37) from Kromdraai (eMalahleni) have just made an unforgettable achievement for herself and her publishing team on, Saturday, July 31.

This comes after six of Mecs Publishing’s authors won an award at the 4th Annual African Honoured Authors Awards that were held online due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

Amongst the authors who were nominated, 260 authors all over South Africa have won this includes the writers from Kenya, who were nominated for their writing.

Not only did one of my books receive a reward, but five of the Mecs Publishing writers were also honoured with awards.

To mention few: Claudia Henshaw, (Witbank), Lerato Sophi Moemi (Bloemfontein), Themba Emmanual Mashobane (Gauteng), Maphalaltse RJ (Bloemfontein) and Katlego Tau (Gauteng).

Edna told WITBANK NEWS that winning an award has made her to realise that nothing is impossible when a person is working hard to achieve his/her dreams.

“Never stop dreaming and work hard in life because good things come to those who work hard, don’t let anybody steal your dreams from you, never stop believing, dreams do come true. “In 2006 I had a car accident and I lost a percentage of my brain capacity, the doctor declared me disabled and said there is no medication to treat my brain capacity. The accident affected me very badly because I have turned to be a person whom I don’t know either. “I get angry very quickly, I get depressed so much, I forget things and I sometimes behave like a little child, but all these life challenges have never stopped me to work hard, hence today I eat the fruits of my hard work,” said Edna.

From her nominated book, the book that has made her the proudest person is the Christian book that was published in 2020 just before Covid.

‘Generaal Albertus’ is about Easter in the eyes of a little bunny, who gets taught about Easter and that it is really about Jesus and not Easter bunnies.

Edna urges parents to encourage their children to read books all the time because that will boost their mindset and ways of constructing words, she also encourages people to support her by buying and reading Mecs Publishing books.

Books are available at Bargain Books and Exclusive Books nationwide also on online platforms bookshop.
