The chosen one for Ward 33

The final results of the by-election in Ward 33 was announced.

After a tough period of campaigning, dealing with complaints and total dedication by candidates the final results of the by-election in Ward 33 was announced.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) retained the ward following the by-election on Wednesday, May 19, after the DA councillor Narita Naidoo resigned. Naidoo stood as an independent candidate in the by-election yesterday.

The results are as follows: Democratic Alliance (DA) took 54, 9% of the votes, African National Congress (ANC) 28, 2%, Independent (IND) with 15, 85% of the votes and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) with 0,99% of the votes.

Kim Faduk from the DA took the place and responsibility of councillor for Ward 33. She has still to be sworn in.

“I am overwhelmed by the mere fact that my ward chose me to take on such a big and important role. Believing in me and trusting me to make a difference as promised. The love I have for my community made me realised that this is my true calling,” said Faduk.

“The beat goes on as we are stronger and better together,” said Jane Sithole, the provincial leader of the Mpumalanga Democratic Alliance after the victory.
