eMalahleni Water Interruption

It should be noted the fact that the system is completely empty it will require reasonable time to recover hence the water is expected to normalize on Friday, May 28

Emalahleni Local Municipality is experiencing unplanned water outages due to the following reasons: flooding of Point C Pump station that took place on Sunday, May 16 as a result of a blanked flanged that had failed, two water leaks on the pumping main pipeline from Point B – Point C Reservoirs near Mc Carthy Kunene Car dealership and a pipe leak inside of Point B- Pump station.

Currently there are three service providers who have been assigned to attend to the above listed challenges but the unfortunate part is that the team is still battling to drain the system due to malfunctioning of the isolation valves however the appointed service providers are doing their utmost best to expedite the repair works.

It is envisaged that the commissioning of the line to be completed by Sunday, May 23 and the pumping from Point B to Point C is expected to resume immediately thereafter.

It should be noted the fact that the system is completely empty it will require reasonable time to recover hence the water is expected to normalize on Friday, May 28.

Temporarily JoJo tanks and rudimentary infrastructure will be located within strategic areas to assist during the water outages and water tankers will also be assigned to continuously fill up the JoJo tanks and other water tankers will be roaming the streets.

Ward Councilors and municipality officials will assist in directing the water tankers.
